Presenter Henry Wagons investigates the allure of men singing in high voices – local counter-tenor Tobias Cole, the Bee Gees and Michael Jackson - and meets the Men In Black.

On May 29, the ABC visited Friday evening rehearsals for the Australian Youth Choir in Canterbury Victoria to meet them and chat to Bill Simmons.

For some young men, puberty is a difficult time to persevere with singing. It is important therefore to adjust the training schedule through the unpredictable period before the voice settles. With careful guidance, boys can continue to sing through their voice change and gently adapt to a new vocal range.



The Australian Youth Choir encourages young men who enjoy singing to join the "Men in Black". They rehearse each Friday evening during the school term in Canterbury Victoria, and there is a similiar group within the Australian Youth Choir in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
