Uniform
What do we wear to rehearsal?
Dancers will need to purchase the Dance Theatre uniform distributed by Buxwear Frimley, consisting of leotard, leggings, tracksuit top, dance pants and polo shirt. Dancers may wear split sole or full sole TAN jazz shoes available from local dance outlets (check yellow pages).

Costumes
Will I need to make costumes?
Dancers wear their uniform for the Autumn concert and are costumed from our wardrobe for the Spring Concerts. Costume hire is paid annually and covers the cost of costumes (including maintenance, hire, fitting, and laundering). Parents are not required to undertake any sewing.

Performances
How often will my child perform?
Dancers perform in two major concerts annually. The concerts are shared presentations with the Australian Youth Choir. Each dancer will present in several items throughout the performance including individual level performance, combined performances and a finale with the Australian Youth Choir.
How do I purchase tickets?
Ticket forms are made available to families via the three weekly newsletter or by contacting your state office for a booking form.
Do I need to purchase a ticket for my child?
Students who are performing do not need to purchase a ticket.

Tours
Will my child be required to tour?
Touring is NOT a compulsory activity for dancers. Parents are advised in writing each year of the proposed itinerary and invited to arrange an audition for their child, should they wish them to be involved. All costs related to the tour are outlined in the letter and are borne by parents.

The Australian Youth Dance Theatre does not undertake fund raising.

The Staff
Who are the Staff?
The Dance Theatre engages tertiary qualified dance educators with a particular interest in the development of young people in the performing arts. Staff biographies are published with newsletters at the beginning of each year.
