Audition Tips

Some advice for our new performers

Everyone feels nervous on audition day so here are a few tips for you to think about before you come to your tryout or audition:
  • It is normal to feel a bit nervous – you are not alone! Everyone coming along for the first time feels a little nervous
  • Take some deep breaths before you go in to the audition or try-out room and try to relax and enjoy yourself
  • Smile as much as you can - it always makes you feel better
  • There will be a group of other children trying out or auditioning with you, so you won’t be on your own
  • Don’t worry if you’ve never auditioned or tried out for anything like this before. Most of the young people at our auditions and tryouts are also there for the first time.
  • Your choir audition or dance tryout will only go for 20 minutes and then you can relax and watch the rest of the rehearsal. You will have the chance to  participate in a range of fun exercises, meet the other choristers or dancers and the teacher.

For Mum and Dad:

Choir Auditions and Dance Tryouts give us the opportunity to place your child in the best class to begin their experience with NIYPAA. We have several levels within each programme and this is a great way for us to decide the best place for your child.

We will give you plenty of information about our programs on the day and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
