Australian Youth Choristers in China!

Five members of the Australian Youth Choir have been invited to China to participate in the first 'World Peace Choir' tour from 17th August to 1st of September 2013. Representing the choir will be Diya Menon (12), Brooke Newton (15), Amy Thit (14), Chanelle Thomas (14) and Caitlyn Woods (14).

The World Peace Choir group have invited choirs from Australia, Austria, China, Czech Republic, India, Malaysia, and Russia to participate. It aims to bring young musicians from different cultural backgrounds to sing together. The World Peace Choir aims to be a living example for the good friendship between different nations and hopes to build a bright future for the whole world.

The conductor of the World Peace Choir is the world-renowned Gerald Wirth, artistic director of the Vienna Boys Choir. The repertoire is varied and includes a song from each country. The Australian Youth Choir have chosen ‘Waltzing Matilda’. There will be concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan, Chengdu and Chongqing.
